Cantori needs a few cookies to keep you signed in. We would also like to measure whether our advertising works, which sets cookies from Google. That part is entirely up to you. Read the policy

Privacy Policy

Effective July 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Cantori ("Cantori," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Cantori Sacred Music Network web application and related services (the "Service"), available at cantori.app. By using the Service you agree to this Policy.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information — your name, email address, and password (or the identity from a third-party sign-in provider such as Google).
  • Profile information — details you choose to add, such as your role (director, musician, or volunteer), parish or organization, voice part, availability, biography, and profile image.
  • Content you create — schedules, events, gigs, applications, messages, music library items, and similar records you enter into the Service.
  • Payment information — subscription and payment processing is handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store your full card details on our servers.
  • Usage information — basic technical data such as device and browser type and log data, used to operate and secure the Service.

Google User Data

If you choose to connect your Google Account, we request access only to the scopes needed to provide calendar and email features you enable:

  • Google Calendar (calendar.events, calendar.readonly) — to read your events for scheduling and conflict detection, and to create or update events for rehearsals, Masses, and gigs you schedule in Cantori.
  • Gmail send (gmail.send), where enabled — to send transactional messages you initiate, such as gig confirmations and reminders, from your address.

We access this data solely to provide these features at your direction. We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not sell it.

Limited Use Disclosure

Cantori's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only use the data to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in the Service, we do not transfer or sell the data except as necessary to provide those features (or for security, legal, or as required by law), and we do not use the data for serving ads or allow humans to read it unless you give explicit consent, it is necessary for security, or it is required by law.

How We Use Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service and its features.
  • To authenticate you, manage your account, and process subscriptions.
  • To send transactional communications you initiate or that are essential to the Service.
  • To protect the security and integrity of the Service and comply with legal obligations.

Children

Cantori accounts are for people aged 13 and over, and we ask you to confirm that when you sign up. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13 or knowingly collect personal information from them.

Children do sing in parish choirs, and the Service is built with that in mind. A younger chorister appears on a director's roster as the director's own record of their program — a name, a voice part, a parent's contact if the director keeps one. That chorister does not hold an account, a profile, a chat seat, or a presence on the Loft. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, write to us at the address below and we will delete it and the information associated with it.

Artificial Intelligence

Aria is an AI assistant built into the Service. She drafts programs, answers questions about repertoire, and helps with routine writing. She is a drafting tool: she can be wrong about a date, a text, or an attribution, and anything you are about to sing or print should be checked. She is not a musicologist, a lawyer, an accountant, or a substitute for your own judgement.

  • What you type to Aria, and the records she needs to answer you, are sent to our AI provider to produce the response.
  • We do not use your content to train a public model.
  • Aria drafts; she does not send. Email, invitations and messages she prepares are shown to you and go out only when you press send.
  • We do not use face recognition anywhere in the Service. Microphone features in the Collegium analyse pitch in your browser and the audio is not uploaded. A voice note in a chat is a message you chose to record and send.

Cookies and Measurement

The Service uses cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to keep your session secure. Those cannot be switched off without breaking the Service.

We would also like to measure whether our advertising works, which uses Google Ads and sets additional cookies. Those are loaded only after you agree: until you answer the banner, consent is set to denied and the advertising tag is not fetched at all. You may decline and continue using everything.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

  • With service providers who process data on our behalf (for example, our hosting platform, Stripe for payments, and Google for the features you connect), under confidentiality obligations.
  • Within your own organization as required by the Service — for example, a director you join can see your roster profile and availability.
  • When required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer.

Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see "Your Choices").

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Choices

  • Disconnect Google — you can revoke Cantori's access at any time in your Google Account under Security → Third-party access, or from Settings within Cantori.
  • Access, update, or delete — you can edit your profile in the app or contact us to access or delete your data.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new effective date.
